Our Mission, as the members of the Ontario Professional Videographers Association (OPVA) is to uphold high standards within our profession, and to have honour and integrity in our business.
To continually promote the benefits of Professional Videography to the public through a positive professional image, quality product, and education.
To encourage our profession to others, through education and support, and to promote the growth of our members through the Association.
To continually aspire to new heights in quality, creativity and self worth by openly sharing ideas with each other. To push the boundaries of our craft not only for the benefit of each other, but for the benefit of our customers.
To strive to push Videography as an equal in the professional artistic community.
This is our mission, our goals, as people, as members, as Videographers.

Our History
Founded in 2003 as the Southern Ontario Videographers Association (SOVA), we quickly realized that interest was well beyond Southern Ontario and we changed our name to the Ontario Professional Videographers Association (OPVA) shortly after. Our goals though, remained the same.
In April of 2004 we held our first election. Joe McManus, Rene Defayette, Florin Marinache and Tony Singh were chosen as the council in our first year. In 2005, Joe McManus remained President, Rene Defayette remained secretary and took on the new title of Treasurer, and Mike Smith was elected as the new Vice President.
Progress has been swift since and we are now on our way to becoming a better and stronger organization thanks to the help and support of our members. In 2006 we held our first large expo and started attracting international speakers to our group.
The Future
Who knows where the future will take us? With more exciting meetings, more interesting guest speakers, and corporate and retail sponsors, things can only go up..
